I am a queer, non binary artist and creator based in Wellington, New Zealand. My work is mainly focused on painting, drawing and digital creation, though I love experimenting with new mediums and trying different things and I'm active in the New Zealand zine community. My work mainly focuses on themes of nature, magic and folklore, with some pop culture thrown in there and I just aspire to be someone that 10 year old Jewelia would think is super cool.

Zines are generally defined as small handmade booklets/magazines that are often personal in nature and have their roots in sci-fi, punk and activism movements.
I got my start in the art market scene tabling at zinefests and making zines is a big part of my creative expression. I often joke that they're my little autism books since they're so often about my most recent hyperfixation or special interest.

The toad tarot is a personal project I started in 2020 and have been slowly chipping away at since then.
I've always had a love of tarot and while this project started as a bit of a joke it's grown into something that means a lot to me and I hope to eventually finish it and publish it as an actual tarot deck.

In April 2024 I held my first solo exhibition at Absolution Tattoo Studio in Ōtautahi, Aotearoa. The exhibition featured a series of acrylic gouache self portraits exploring my feelings of identity and gender following my transition.

Some tattoos people have gotten of my artwork over the years!

I table at a lot of conventions and markets and have put a lot of work into my table display over the years.
I wanted to capture a sort of fantasy style whimsy with my setup that would feel in fitting with my goofier pop culture works and my more nature focused pieces which I think was accomplished. I also loved adding in some rosy maple moths to the display as a nod to all the moths in my branding and my signature colours of pink and yellow.

In September 2022 I was approached by the news publication The Spinoff to do some illustrations for their Sunday Essay series. I ended up doing a couple of illustrations to accompany a beautiful and moving essay by Felicity Monk about cancer.

In 2024 I had the absolute honour of creating the poster for Wellington Zinefest that year. Wellington Zinefest was the first market I ever vended at and it holds an incredibly special place in my heart.
For the poster design I was inspired by vintage horror comics and movie posters to go for a halftone grungy aesthetic with minimal colours and I'm so happy with the way it turned out! In addition to a poster that was hung around the city for promotion I also designed assets for merchendise, social media, the Best Of Fest certificates and the stallholder guide.

I have done multiple projects with The Freedom Shop over the years, a not-for-profit anarchist bookshop and info-centre based out of Pōneke, Aotearoa. In 2022 I was approached to do a revamp of a zine originally published in 1973 titled Witches, Midwives, & Nurses: A History of Women Healers.
This project was fun to do and involved formatting and illustrating the 48 page zine and was a great chance to stretch my design muscles. I'm so proud of how it turned out!
I ended up creating 23 images for it in a style inspired by vintage woodcuts to reflect the historical vibe of the project.

I worked with them again in 2023 to create an illustration for their Plan B Annual Planner for 2024. I ended up doing the March illustration about deep sea oil drilling protests that took place in March of 2011.
